Joe Biden’s Cognitive Decline and the Cover-Up of the Century

It is hard to fathom that we’re living through one of the biggest cover-ups in modern history. Maybe it’s because the 24-hour news cycle hasn’t slowed down in what seems like a decade, or maybe it’s because independent media and anyone with eyes could see the state of Joe Biden’s mental acuity going back to 2020.

Even before the 2020 Election, Howie Carr wrote about the media covering up Biden’s decline. Since the election, rarely has a day gone by that conservative or social media haven’t reported on or featured a gaffe from Joe Biden. From countless stumbles in speeches, to sleeping on the job, to falling, falling again, and falling some more. My personal favorite was watching President Biden turn into a Roomba after finishing a speech. Biden’s cognitive decline wasn’t unknown, if anyone says they didn’t know, it’s because they didn’t want to know or they’re lying.

The legacy media didn’t just ignore Biden’s decline, they full-on ran interference and demonized anyone who even questioned his age or mental state.

Months before the 2020 Election, The Guardian ran an article about Trump attacking Biden’s cognitive health. Instead of investigating and reporting in an unbiased manner, the article downplayed signs of mental decline, saying that Biden is prone to stumbles and bad debate performances. The article went on to question Donald Trump’s age and mental abilities.

For the past four years the media has insisted that the panic of Joe Biden’s age is manufactured, that Donald Trump is actually the one who has dementia, and, my favorite, that Joe Biden’s gaffes aren’t a sign of cognitive decline and he just has a stutter.

Biden’s cognitive abilities came under a microscope after Former Special Counsel Robert Hur testified to Congress about his findings in the Biden mishandling of classified records investigation. Hur found that Biden willfully retained classified information but did not recommend criminal charges based on Biden’s mental state. Media responded by saying that Hur exaggerated Biden’s memory issues and recruited neurologists to join them in covering for the President. For their part, Democrats accused Hur of a political hit job, saying it was inappropriate for Hur to comment on Biden’s memory and downplaying his findings.

For the first half of 2024, in an election year, media ratcheted up the cover for Joe Biden. Countless articles claiming that Trump is actually the one with cognitive decline, again that Biden’s stutter is to blame, and that online videos of Biden’s gaffes are cheap fakes.

One of the most egregious claims came from Joe Scarborough in March of 2024 saying, “This version of Biden — intellectually, analytically — is the best Biden ever”

Then, June 27, and what might be the worst debate performance of all time happened. Even still the media tried to cover for Biden, saying that the bar for Biden is just too high or that he had a cold. But it finally got to the point that the media couldn’t cover for him anymore. In the days following the debate the tide completely shifted. The media, while feigning utter shock, finally acknowledged Biden’s cognitive decline.

The cover-up is painfully obvious but we’re already starting to see proof of the media’s culpability. Members of the White House press corps admitted not wanting to report on President Biden’s mental state so as to not feed into “right-wing talking points.” Hopefully in the coming weeks and months we learn more about the lengths to the media (and the Democrats) went to in an attempt to hide Biden’s cognitive decline. It is unimaginable that there are still people out there that trust the media but, if such a person still exists, hopefully this is a wake up call.
