Far Left of Center: The Issues Harris/Walz Are Out of Touch with Americans

Despite the push from the media and democrats to make Kamala Harris and Tim Walz look moderate, the Harris/Walz ticket might be the most radically liberal we have ever seen in a presidential election. It’s no accident that Harris hasn’t done an interview since taking the nomination and it’s no accident that there is no platform or policy recommendations on the campaign’s official website. Harris and Walz are way more radical than the average American and their records prove that. Here are the issues that the Harris/Walz campaign are out of sync with the American people:

Abortion

A Biden/Walz administration would be the most pro-abortion that our country has ever seen, far to the left of the average American. In 2024, 63% of Americans say abortion should be legal in all or some cases. That support drops drastically the farther a mother is into pregnancy, down to 30% after 24 weeks.

During her time as a Senator, Harris co-sponsored a bill that would ban states from restricting abortions. She also voted against a bill that would ban abortions after 20 weeks, further illustrating her support for late term abortions.

For his part, Walz signed two abortion bills in 2023. The first restricted state and local governments from regulating abortion. The second prohibits the arrest of abortion providers and protects people who travel to Minnesota for abortion services.

The worst part is Walz supports infanticide and post-birth abortion. During his time as Governor of Minnesota, five aborted babies were born alive and left to die. Walz repealed the state requirement to preserve the baby’s “life and health.” His efforts also made it so that Minnesota will no longer track the number of born-alive babies.

Crime

In late 2023, a new high of 63% said U.S. crime is a serious problem. A vast majority of Americans don’t support defunding the police. Support for police reform peaked following the death of George Floyd in 2020, but settled to less than 20% the year after.

The last time Kamala Harris and Tim Walz teamed up, Walz was letting rioters destroy Minneapolis and Harris was helping to bail them out of jail. Despite Democrats and the media trying to portray Harris as a tough on crime prosecutor, her record doesn’t reflect that. A supporter of defunding the police, Harris also supports abolishing cash bail and giving voting rights to criminals.

Economy

The standout issue for Americans in the 2024 election is the economy. Specifically, 62% say inflation is a very big problem for the country. Additionally, most Americans feel that they pay more than their fair share of taxes.

Bidenomics has been a complete failure for the Biden/Harris administration, particularly when compared to Donald Trump’s economy. The stock market performed better under Trump with annualized gains of 14.1% compared to 10.8% under Biden. Inflation under Biden/Harris was far worst than under Trump (19.9% to 5.4% through the first 41 months of each administration). Year-over-year inflation under Biden/Harris peaked at 9%, the highest in four decades. Harris was the deciding vote on the Inflation Reduction Act, which did little to combat inflation.

Walz’s economic record as Governor of Minnesota isn’t much better. In 2020, Walz supported $330 million in higher taxes annually, including higher marginal tax rates, higher gas taxes, and increase in the state’s capital gains tax. In 2024, Minnesota ranks 7th nationally in overall tax burden.

Foreign policy

The number one and number two priorities for Americans in 2024, when it comes to foreign policy are protecting the U.S. from terrorist attacks and reducing the flow of illegal drugs into the country. The Biden/Harris administration’s record on those priorities doesn’t inspire confidence. From 2021-2024, more than 250 migrants on the terrorist “watch list” entered the United States illegally. From 2020-2023 fentanyl seizures at the southern boarder increased 480%.

U.S. adults hold broadly unfavorable views of China. An April, 2023 poll showed that 83% had an unfavorable view of the country, with 44% who responded very unfavorable. Most Americans are critical of China’s role in the world and are concerned about China’s partnership with Russia.

Views of Iran aren’t much better. Going back to 1989, American’s overall opinion of Iran has been overwhelmingly unfavorable. When asked who Americans consider the number one enemy of the United States, Iran has been in the top 5 going back to 2016.

The Biden/Harris administration has been rife with mistakes. The Afghanistan Withdrawal was a complete and unmitigated disaster, where 13 service members lost their lives. The appeasement of Vladimir Putin led to Russia invading Ukraine. The administration has gone easy on China, particularly in areas of trade practices, human rights, and Hong Kong's autonomy. Biden and Harris have brought back Barrack Obama's Middle East foreign policy and a soft approach to Iran. An emboldened Iran has led to complete chaos in the region where Iran and Israel are on the brink of war. Because of her limited foreign policy experience, Harris is likely to continue Obama's strategy and policies.

Tim Walz has a strange relationship with China going back to the late 80s. From 1989-1990, he taught a China Communist Party-approved course in China during the Tiananmen Square Massacre. From 1992-2003, Walz made almost annual trips to China, creating a summer program for Minnesota High School students, with funding from Beijing. In 2007, Walz downplayed U.S. concerns about China, saying it was "hyperbole." Despite ongoing human rights abuses, in 2019, Walz advocated for more economic engagement with China.

Immigration

Illegal immigration is a growing concern for Americans. In February 2024, 80% said that the U.S. government is doing a bad job handling the southern border. Even among Democrats, only about a quarter say the government is doing a good job.

Immigration policy under the Biden/Harris administration has been an undeniable failure. Over 8 million immigrants have entered the country illegally and the administration is in on track for over 10 million by the end of the fiscal year. Despite the media’s best efforts to convince the world that Kamala Harris wasn’t the Border Czar, the administration’s failed border policies are her failures to own. Those failures include the deaths of U.S. citizens Laken Riley, Chris Gadd, Travis Wolfe, and Aiden Clarke at the hands of illegal immigrants. Despite what her campaign says, Harris has championed decriminalization of border crossings.

Tim Walz has also been a champion for open borders. During his time as governor he has signed bills that give health insurance coverage to illegal immigrants. He has also signed bills that give illegal immigrants drivers licenses and free tuition at state univeristies.

Trans Issues

A majority of Americans are opposed to ‘gender affirming care’ for minors and men participating in women’s sports. According to a Washington Post-KFF poll from 2023, 68% oppose using puberty blockers for children ages 10-14 and 58% oppose hormonal treatment for teens 15-17.

When it comes to men in women’s sports 62% say men or ‘trans women’ should not be allowed in women’s youth sports and 66% say they should not be allowed in women’s high school sports.

Kamala Harris has bragged advocating for tax-payer funded sex-change and other medical services for transgender prisoners. Harris also co-sponsored the Equality Act, which would have forced public schools to allow male athletes who identify as transgender to participate in women’s sports.

Shortly after the Harris campaign announced Tim Walz as her running mate, #tampontim was trending on X. In 2023, Walz signed an education finance bill which included language requiring all public and charter schools in Minnesota to provide students with access to menstrual products at no charge. During the writing of the bill, state lawmakers rejected adding “female” to the language, meaning the products are required in male bathrooms as well.

Also in 2023, Walz signed an executive order protecting ‘gender affirming care’ in Minnesota, including puberty blockers, surgeries, and hormone therapy. Worst of all, part of the laws Walz signed in 2023 allows Minnesota to seize custody of a child whose parents refuse to provide ‘gender affirming care.’

These six issues highlight how radical the Harris/Walz ticket is and how far apart it is from the average American. Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are not moderates and their ideas do not represent the majority of Americans.
